WellSpring Community School

WellSpring Community School
WellSpring is a fully accredited, private, non-profit, Washington State Approved School.
Our WellSpring curriculum meets Washington State's  graduation and learning requirements.
Since our inception in 1992, WellSpring has proved to be a safe haven, a dynamic learning center, and a springboard to college or the work world for a host of students.

Student/Family Profile
WellSpring serves a diverse group of families from Whatcom and Skagit Counties. Students range in age from 12-19 years. Our families choose WellSpring knowing their children’s skills and interests can be expressed and supported in a safe and nurturing environment.

The WellSpring Curriculum
WellSpring features a strong academic program that is student- centered, experiential, and inter-disciplinary. Traditional in values, but distinctly contemporary in content, core subjects such as history, mathematics, language arts, and science are integrated with a rich cultural, arts, and environmental curriculum. Special attention to reading, writing, and study skills is provided within the context of the whole curriculum.

A Student-Centered Education means several things:

Each student's skill levels, personal interests, and special ways of processing information are taken into account when developing learning goals and outcomes;

Students are challenged in different subject areas depending on their abilities;

Students have the opportunity to express themselves in small, discussion-oriented classes;

Special attention is given to student progress and achievement.

Inter-disciplinary Curriculum
Each semester, WellSpring develops curriculum themes which integrate the different subject areas. Important concepts are more meaningful and relevant when they are considered from the perspective of different course subjects. At the end of each semester, students produce a significant literary work, visual art, multi-media or theater performance that captures the essence of their integrated studies.

Experiential Education
Whenever possible, we consider the practical applications of knowledge.  Weekly field studies and block times are devoted to the sciences, studio arts, service learning, leadership activities, hands-on projects, sports and outdoor adventures.

NEW! Transition Programs for Seniors and Running Start Students
WellSpring offers full-time and part-time curriculum options which focus on vocational/career education, job shadowing, communication and writing competency, technology, lifes skills, service learning and mentoring projects.
