For the past 13 years, WellSpring's inter-disciplinary curriculum has evolved around its motto,
“Arts and Sciences in Service to the Planet”, creating a setting for the emergence of young scientists,
artists and humanists who are active, ecologically-minded, service-oriented citizens.
To be of service to others, or to causes that better the whole community--
to translate our knowledge into worthwhile action--truly fulfills our mission.
With that in mind, we are committed to the studies of renewable energy systems
and sustainability-- our newest project being the creation of ECO HOUSE.
To our good fortune, we have leased WWU's property, next door to our school,
and have converted the existing house into an educational learning project
devoted to the development of sustainable design, alternative energy systems, and organic gardens.
Our vision is for ECO HOUSE to become an on-going, experiential, community project
involving WellSpring, Western, Fairhaven, and Huxley students, as well as community members
interested in sustainable urban designs and systems.
In pursuit of our goals, WellSpring is researching grants to assist us in the project development.
Also, we are seeking support and contributions from the "Green Building Industry",
local businesses, trades, and patrons of the environmental movement in the form of consultation,
building supplies and materials, volunteer labor, and financial donations.
We thank everyone for supporting this very exciting, worthwhile project!
